Initial Efforts....

After taking initiative about spreading awareness in Pakistani Community about Mobiles the first step was to design a website ,select a name and decide where to upload it. At the time of designing our team included of Muhammad Arslan Azmat (myself) and Muhammad Bilal Azmat (my younger brother). Most of the design work was carried out by Bilal which included tools like Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver etc. The reason why Bilal carried out the design work was that i think he is more creative designer than me even i knew all the tools better than him but creativety matters the most.
For the first step we decided the name to be

And selected Freeservers.com as the place to upload the site. The designing was completed in less than 2 days. As spirit drove us beyond the limit at those moments so we worked more than 18 hours a day for designing. The basic material was collected from the sites GsmArena, Fone4All, NokiaFree, Asatalavista, MobileBox etc. Secret Codes & Tricks were the most requested and appriciated segment.
Main sections that were lauched at the time of first upload were Web2SMS, MonoPhonic Ringtones, Operator Logos, Tricks and Secret Codes. Secret Codes were the only thing that forced me extend my services. As the Secret Code of Nokia by which we can check How Much mobile is used? is *#92702689# that let you check the LifeTimer of the mobile that is how much the mobile is used. If mobile life timer shows any value other than 9999 it means it is used. Actually when you buy a mobile Nokia give you 1 hour before the lifetimer actually starts counting from 0000.
So this was the code (*#92702689#) that compelled me to do all this. So after 2 days the most breath taking part of uploading the website started. The main hindrance was that Freeserver did'nt allowed the use of FTP Client and we have to use Online File Uploader provided by Freeservers which let us upload a single file at a time and there were more than 1500 files that needed to be uploaded most of which were Operator Logos and Ringtones. The initial site consisted of 32 Pages. And it took more than a week to upload those files one by one and to test each n every section for bugs/errors. But at last we were very glad to see apnamobile.itgo.com running without bugs.

The Starting....

It was most probably 3 years back from now i.e (Nov 2001) when i first got a Mobile Phone. At that time i was a student of 1st Year BCS(Hons) at Hyderabad. I somehow collected a sum of 7500 Rs ,by collecting Pocket moneys, and went to buy a mobile from local mobile market in Hyderabad (Pakistan). There i surveyed more than a dozen shops and finally decided to go for a Nokia 3310 (GSM) Mobile which was the only mobile that fitted by Budjet. And finally i bought that "new boxed packed" mobile from a shop named "Best Communications" Hyderabad, Pakistan.
But the worst thing was that i fall short of money and could not buy Mobile Connection at the same time for which i had to wait for more than a week. After whcih i collected the amount and went to buy Jazz Mobilink Connection from the same shop.
Here starts the most fearsome dream of my life that the mobile which i had puchased was used as there were contacts added already and even some SMS messages where also present of the one who used that mobile before my purchase. I took the mobile to the same shop and told him that this mobile is used, he was astonished to hear that from me like he knew nothing that after a little inspection he told me that this is not the mobile which he sold to me as the IMEI Number of this mobile is different from one he gave me which was written on my reciept. After comparing the serial number i was also astonished that the serial numbers where different but the fact was the the serial number written on the reciept was delibrately written wrong. And that shopkeeper refused to change the old mobile set.
I took that mobile to some other shop keeper so as to check whether it is used or not and after inserting some Secret Codes he showed me a screen whcih was saying that "Life Timer 0163:25" whcih means that this mobile is used for 163 Hours and 25 Mins Talk Time. And my first respose was Hmmm.... i was right. So i asked that shopkeeper to please tell me the Secret Code so if i buy a new mobile i can check rather than being invlolved in fraud again. His reply was
"If i tell u the code, so u come and stand at my shop and there is no need of me here then..."
This was the reply that enforeced me to start spreading awareness about mobiles in Pakistan so that there would be no more frauds of such case. Which gave me the idea of designing a website which contains all type of information about mobile phones. Than i came up with www.apnamobile.itgo.com.
